COURSE TITLE: OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety

DESCRIPTION: The OSHA 10 -Hour General Industry Safety course is designed to provide workers with a basic understanding of the dangers in working in General Industry.  The emphasis is on hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention.  While the OSHA standards are referred to briefly during the class, they are NOT the total focus.  This course informs students about the OSHA requirements and, more importantly, helps them understand why the requirements are there, how they can protect themselves and their co-workers, and how to file a complaint.

This course covers topics pertaining to regulations covered by OSHA Standards in 29 CFR 1910 and will help meet the General Industry standards training requirements established by OSHA.  Employers recognize the importance of providing this training so their insurance companies can be assured their workers are working more safely.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:  Students who successfully complete the course will:

  • Be able to recognize, evaluate and eliminate conditions in the work place that are unsafe
  • Be familiar with OSHA, including provisions of the OSH Act, the general duty clause, responsibilities of supervisors and how to file a complaint
  • Understand worker rights protected under OSHA
  • Understand employer responsibilities protected under OSHA
